Podrače Beach in Brela, one of the most beautiful Croatian beaches on the Adriatic coast

Five Croatian Beaches Ranked Among Europe’s 50 Best in 2026

Croatia has secured five spots on the latest list of Europe’s 50 Best Beaches, published by The World’s 50 Best Beaches. The annual ranking highlights some of the continent’s most scenic coastal destinations and is compiled using votes from travel experts, journalists, content creators and beach ambassadors from around the world.

The 2026 list includes five Croatian beaches along the Adriatic coast, making Croatia one of the best-represented countries in the ranking.

The highest-ranked Croatian beach this year is Podrače Beach in Brela, which came in at 14th place. Known for its crystal-clear waters, dramatic rock formations and the backdrop of the Biokovo mountains, it is widely regarded as one of Croatia’s most beautiful beaches.

Pasjača Beach in Konavle ranked 32nd. Located beneath steep cliffs south of Dubrovnik, the beach has gained international recognition in recent years thanks to its unique setting and secluded atmosphere.

Zlatni Rat on the island of Brač placed 37th. Often described as Croatia’s most recognisable beach, it is famous for its distinctive shape, which shifts slightly depending on winds and sea currents.

Also included were Punta Rata in Brela at 39th place and Sakarun Beach on Dugi Otok at 42nd. Both beaches are regularly featured in international travel publications and are among Croatia’s best-known seaside destinations.

What makes this ranking important?

According to the organisers, beaches are assessed based on factors such as natural beauty, uniqueness, wildlife, peacefulness, ease of access to the water and the likelihood of visitors experiencing ideal conditions during their stay.

Although it is not an official tourism award, The World’s 50 Best Beaches has become one of the travel industry’s most widely followed beach rankings.

The organisation’s annual lists are based on recommendations and votes from more than 1,000 travel professionals worldwide and are regularly featured by international media.

No Place on the Global List This Year

Interestingly, despite placing five beaches among Europe’s top 50, Croatia did not have a single beach featured on the organisation’s separate list of the world’s 50 best beaches for 2026.

For a country with more than a thousand islands and one of Europe’s most indented coastlines, the latest ranking is another sign of the Adriatic’s enduring popularity among international travellers.
