Jadrolinija ferries to Italy will remain suspended for almost two additional weeks after the Croatian state-owned ferry company extended the cancellation of its three international routes.
The services were previously expected to resume after September 9. Jadrolinija has now confirmed that all sailings on the Split–Ancona route L53, Dubrovnik–Bari route L54 and Split–Bari route L56 have been cancelled until September 21, 2026.
The company said the extended disruption was caused by an ongoing technical problem affecting the ferry Dalmacija.

Jadrolinija ferries to Italy remain cancelled
The disruption affecting Jadrolinija ferries to Italy began on August 17, when the Dubrovnik–Bari sailing scheduled to depart at 11 am was cancelled. It was later reported that Dalmacija had been taken out of service following a failure of its main engine.
As the same vessel was operating all three routes, cancellations were subsequently extended to the connections between Split and Ancona, Dubrovnik and Bari and Split and Bari. Jadrolinija initially announced that the services would remain suspended until September 9, but the latest notice has pushed that date back to September 21.
Passengers with tickets for the affected sailings will be compensated in accordance with EU Regulation No 1177/2010. Jadrolinija has apologised for the inconvenience but has not announced when repairs to Dalmacija are expected to be completed.
Zadar–Ancona catamaran has ended for the season
The new high-speed catamaran between Zadar and Ancona provided another Jadrolinija connection across the Adriatic this summer. Introduced in June, the seasonal service was initially due to end on August 30.
Following strong demand, Jadrolinija extended the route for another week, with the final sailings operating on September 6. The passenger-only service has now ended for the season and cannot replace the cancelled routes during the current disruption.
Other connections to Italy remain available
The cancellations apply specifically to Jadrolinija and do not mean that every passenger connection between Croatia and Italy has stopped.
Private ferry companies continue to operate selected seasonal services, including connections from parts of Croatia to Italian ports. Availability depends on the departure city and travel date, while some services carry foot passengers only and cannot transport vehicles.
Passengers affected by the cancellation of Jadrolinija ferries to Italy can also consider flights, buses or routes involving a change elsewhere along the Adriatic. Anyone travelling with a vehicle should check carefully whether an alternative ferry accepts cars before making new arrangements.
