New fuel prices in Croatia from August 18

The Croatian government has announced new fuel prices in Croatia that will take effect on Tuesday, August 18, following a government session held on Monday.
The regulated price of standard petrol will rise to €1.63 per litre, an increase of €0.07 compared with the previous seven-day period. Standard diesel will increase by €0.09 to €1.80 per litre.
The new maximum retail prices are:
- Petrol: €1.63/litre, up €0.07
- Diesel: €1.80/litre, up €0.09
- Blue diesel: €1.27/litre, up €0.09
- LPG for tanks: €1.24/kg, up €0.04
- LPG in cylinders: €1.81/kg, up €0.03
The prices will apply for the next seven-day period.
Government continues to regulate fuel prices
The government has maintained excise duties at the same level as during the previous seven-day period. Compared with pre-crisis levels, excise duty remains reduced by €0.09 per litre for unleaded petrol and €0.07 per litre for diesel.
At the same time, permitted premiums have been reduced by €0.01 per litre for diesel and €0.02 per litre for blue diesel.
Under the latest regulation, maximum retail prices are calculated using the base price of fossil fuels during the previous seven-day period. The permitted premium is set at €0.1435 per litre for petrol, €0.1045 for diesel and €0.0236 for blue diesel. For LPG, the permitted premium is €0.9037 per kilogram for cylinders and €0.4416 per kilogram for large tanks.
What fuel would cost without government measures
The government estimates that without its price-control measures, and with retail prices calculated using energy companies’ premiums and excise duties from before the first regulations were introduced, prices would currently be considerably higher.
Petrol would cost €1.78 per litre, while diesel would reach €2.01 per litre. Blue diesel would cost €1.36 per litre, LPG for tanks €1.35 per kilogram and LPG in cylinders €2.05 per kilogram.
The latest new fuel prices in Croatia take effect on August 18 and remain in force for seven days.
