Fuel prices in Croatia will fall from Tuesday following a new government decision setting maximum retail prices for petroleum products for the next seven-day period.
Under the new regulation, petrol will fall by six cents per litre, while diesel will become four cents cheaper. The government has also kept excise duties at their previously reduced levels.
New fuel prices in Croatia
From Tuesday, new fuel prices in Croatia will be capped at the following maximum retail levels:
- Petrol: €1.56 per litre, down €0.06
- Diesel: €1.71 per litre, down €0.04
- Blue diesel: €1.18 per litre, down €0.03
- LPG for large tanks: €1.20 per kilogram, down €0.08
- LPG in cylinders: €1.78 per kilogram, down €0.08
The new regulation on fuel prices in Croatia takes effect on August 11 and will remain in force for seven days, until August 17, 2026.
Reduced excise duties remain in place
Compared with the previous two-week period, excise duties have been kept unchanged, meaning the government has continued its measure aimed at reducing fuel prices in Croatia.
Compared with pre-crisis levels, excise duty on unleaded petrol remains nine cents per litre lower, while the duty on diesel remains seven cents per litre lower.
Maximum prices continue to be calculated according to a formula based on the average base price of fossil fuels over the preceding seven-day period, with regulated retailer premiums.
Government says prices would be higher without the measures
According to the government, if fuel prices in Croatia were fully market-based and excise duties and retailer margins had remained at their earlier levels, prices would instead be:
Petrol: €1.71 per litre
Diesel: €1.91 per litre
Blue diesel: €1.24 per litre
LPG for large tanks: €1.31 per kilogram
LPG in cylinders: €2.02 per kilogram
